Product Description

Volutes make a stairway look warm and inviting. The use of a stair fitting like this shows craftsmanship and beauty to a home. Available in every wood species and several profiles, The volute is the statement that makes the stairway. The gentle curves invite the guests in your home to enter. The gentle turns show craftsmanship and style. This fitting is installed with 5 balusters underneath it. It is recommended that simple designs be used for the balusters, avoiding “S” scrolls and other designs.

7030 – fits 6010 profile handrail
7230 – fits 6210 profile handrail
7630 – fits 6610 profile handrail
7730 – fits 6710 profile handrail
7830 – fits 6800 profile handrail

StairSupplies guarantees the tolerance on our fittings to match our handrail within 1/32″ (will be within 1/32″, once centered on the handrail). Please be aware that the part numbers on our handrail & fittings are industry standard numbers, but the actual profiles can vary from one supplier to another. For example, we do not guarantee that our 6010 profile will match 6010 profile you purchased elsewhere. Let us know if you have additional questions about this policy.

    Hi – I’m a novice. Does this part come with a plow? I’m not sure if I need a plow on the handrail – but obviously I need them to match. Grateful for your advice. How do I know how wide a plow I need to match the baluster (dont se specs on site). Thanks

    Hello, David. Thank you for your question. This product does not come with a plow. If you are attaching wood balusters to the underside of the volute, you will simply want to cut to the proper length and attach the baluster to the volute using trim nails or similar attachment method.     Can this be used on an outside railing on a porch?

    Yes, this can be used in an exterior application. We recommend using a wood species like CYpress, Sapele, and White Oak that can withstand the elements. Also, make sure to let us know in the order notes that it is for an exterior application so that we know to use an exterior wood glue.
