These American-Made 4620 Painted Box Newel is crafted and painted by our team of newel experts at StairSupplies™. The 4620 is carefully detailed with shoulder trim and three unique cap styles. This 5” square box newel offers the same effect as our larger box newels, making it a favorite for smaller houses, apartments, or spaces that must accommodate many newels. Use it on its own, or pair it with 4600 or 4691 Painted Box Newels for a unique design.

Mounting System

To install your 4620 Painted Box Newel, you will need the Box Newel Mounting Kit. Follow our Installation Video to ensure a secure fit. Box Newels may be installed either on the surface of the stair tread or beside the tread. Due to their precise edges, we have found that Box Newels look best on a square starting step.

Handrail Attachment

Join handrail to your 4620 Painted Box Newel using a rail bolt kit. Many configurations allow handrail to mount directly into the newel; however, if your handrail is joining with your box newel on a rake, you may also require a gooseneck handrail attachment.

Splitting Box Newels

In order to maintain a consistent appearance when handrail must terminate into a wall, we offer Split Box Newels. Attach the partial newel to the wall, and your handrail can be secured like normal.
