These components are crafted from marine-grade 316 stainless steel for lasting beauty and strength. If you are purchasing our 36″ tall posts purchase a 10 pack for each tensioning post. For 39″ posts purchase a 11 pack, and for 42″ posts purchase a 12 pack. Used for “B” Up, “B” Down, “D”, or “I” posts.
*You will need to purchase a kit for the other end of your cable, either another Level Tension Kit, an Angle Tension Kit (for starting or ending on a staircase), or an Inside Post Mount Kit (which is used in our C, F, H & J posts to begin a cable run inside the post). We highly recommend using our Cable Rail Tool Kit to install this product.

What angle is this designed for?
They are designed to work between 20 degrees to 45 degrees. If your staircase falls outside of that range we can provide you with angle washers to accommodate other angles. Just let us know in the notes of your order and we’ll substitute the correct items for no additional charge.
How many pieces make up the angle kit & what is the cost of cable if sell it.
Hi Marlene.
One angle tension kit comes with 1 Tension Receiver, 1 Angle Washer, 1 Threaded Crimp Fitting, and 1 Adhesive Sleeve. You can check out our cable product page for information on pricing for our 100 & 400 foot spools. Please let us know if you have any additional questions!
What is the maximum run of cable per tension kit and how much do I need to leave extra when I cut cable?
Hi Buford,
The maximum run length that we recommend is 80′. For installation instructions for the level and angle tension kits, you can refer to page 8 of the Installation Guide. Please let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with!
I am considering using your cable railing system and would like to use my own metal post. Will 1 1/2 inch square metal post work with VR294 and VR 290? When using VR294 do I need to drill the holes on an angle or can I offset the holes on each side of the post?
Robin,
We can’t recommend using 1 1/2″ posts because of concerns about their structural integrity. Further, you will likely have components that are sticking out of your posts, which means that you will not be able to use the insert or adhesive sleeves to hide the tension components.
As far as drilling holes, you will be able to get by with 1/2″ holes drilled straight. For our angle posts, we drill a special size that is actually a 3/8″ hole and a 5/16″ holes that are slightly overlapping, but that is mainly so that the adhesive sleeve works correctly. Since you likely won’t be using the adhesive sleeves, you should be good with just 1/2″ holes.
Also, I’d recommend buying just the components rather than a whole kit since you won’t be utilizing the sleeves. You can find the tension receiver and threaded crimp fitting here and the angle washer here.
Let us know if we can offer you any more assistance.
